Turmeric is well known for it’s healing properties, such as being an excellent anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anticoagulant and so on and on and on. I would say that it is known to cure some types of cancer or prevent them from spreading, especially if used in conjunction with certain vegetables – but the cancer industry wouldn’t be down with that and they would probably shut down my blog. Just to be clear, I didn’t say it. I said that I would say it, if only.
The cancer industry makes big bucks out of people’s suffering, when in all truth cancer is extremely preventable – even in us fair skinned dames. Nobody can argue against that. It’s true: they do make big bucks. It is a multi-billion dollar industry. It is also true that cancer is preventable most of the time. I am not making any outlandish claims that can’t be backed up by Google. lol. Or if you’d prefer to read scientific journal articles, then you’ll find your proof there.
You may be able to argue that there is “no real scientific evidence” that turmeric can do all the wonderful things it has been purported to do, but then you would be ignoring thousands of years of actual use of the substance – and the findings of research outside the realms of “scientific” research. Scientists HAVE NOT researched turmeric, which is why there is no scientific evidence. They thus far cannot patent turmeric, because they did not create the DNA of turmeric, therefore they cannot make a profit from it – so it does not get the attention of researchers. If they COULD patent turmeric, they would be making a mint out of turmeric-based products.
In fact, they would be making a mint out of each of the spices, as they are all capable of doing some amazing things. I won’t go into that for now. I will simply provide a recipe for turmeric milk. This is something I try to have every day and it makes me feel nice and warm and a little bit full – even on an empty stomach.
Turmeric Milk:
Turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon
Pepper, a pinch
Milk, a mug worth
boil the combination on the stove until it starts to froth, then take of the boil and serve into mug
Simple.
Wait for it to cool somewhat, before you enjoy!
If you prefer to sweeten it you could use either honey, or sugar, but not both.
If you cannot use regular milk, you could use almond milk.
To make almond milk at home, I use a Ninja. It processes food at 700 watts.
I just soak a cup of almonds overnight, then add water to them in a ninja cup. Then blend until smooth.
Almonds, and therefore also almond milk (because it uses all the parts of the almond) are very good for reducing period pain.
If you try this recipe, please let me know how you go and if you like it or not. Turmeric has a mild, but very nice flavour to it – methinks. Just because I like it, doesn’t mean everyone will like it. I would like to hear back from you if you tried it – weather you liked it or not. Please share in the comment section below. Thank you. 🙂
